The legal representative, prosecuting, detailed the criminal behavior to the judicial body.

She said his victims were disadvantaged youngsters who were participating in a summer program which he operated.

The defendant conducted a "candy game" with the children, Mrs Prior explained, in which he would go into the sleeping quarters when they were preparing to sleep and request they to consume candy "rapidly".

She stated to the judge Ruben had engaged in this activity with the children "over an extended period", and youngsters had previously fallen ill the subsequent day.

She said Ruben had been capable of justifying this repeatedly as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had worries in July 2025.

The prosecutor added: "Recently" his family member had worries about what was going on, justifiably.

"They resolved" to examine in the individual's items."

The legal counsel stated objects including baby oil, Vaseline and medical needles were discovered, and his stepson notified the police about his concerns.

She said the defendant continued to play the "candy game" with six children that night - July 26th - and they were everyone unwell the following morning.

"Authorities" had not responded by that stage," she added.

The police watchdog, the police conduct office, earlier informed that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the situation.

The prosecutor explained the minors were unable to walk properly due to being ill, so the family member called the police again.

She explained the man then engaged in the "sweet game" in a room of five youngsters.
